Just the girls

This was a great shoot at a beautiful location.  These girls were super to work with.  I hope these pictures capture the essence of their relationship because this mom sure has a special bond with her girlies.  That's what I want my pictures to be about.  I want you to be able to feel the connection I'm seeing in my lens, and these girls have just that... a great connection.  Hope you enjoy.  To see more of their shoot, check out their slideshow at:

Autumn Color

Fall in Charlotte has been a beautiful experience.  The change is amazing.  In these pictures, I've tried to capture some of the glorious color we are seeing.  I love it when you drive in the area, around every corner is yet another example of amazing fall color.  I am loving it!!!

I know I already had a picture of an acorn, but I really loved this image too.

Happy fall!

A fall flyer

This beautiful butterfly showed up a few days ago and just kept coming back for another sip of this lantana flower.

A great day exploring

What luck to find this amazing place to shoot this little cutie.  We just happened upon a cool fence.  One thing led to another and we found ourselves walking across this pasture with an amazing background.  This little guy was just so willing to pose for me.  He even pointed out a few spots he wanted me to photograph.  How helpful is that?!?!  Love those bright blue eyes!

In her yard ...

This very sweet girlie and I met for a session in her beautiful yard.  She's at that fun age where she doesn't mind being a model.  I'm sure I'll be posting more sessions with her soon.  Thanks for the fun!

365 Project ... Bugs

This week's forum project is bugs.  Boy, does North Carolina offer a lot of opportunities for taking pictures of bugs!  Here are a few I found...

This second one is of cicada moltings.  These very loud cicada bugs molt several times in their lifetime and these are their carcasses.

I know this next one isn't a bug, but it's just so crazy what we saw on the side of the road today..... a fox!

Our new life in North Carolina

My life these last few weeks has been rather crazy.  We moved!  It's exciting to live in a new place.  There is so much to see and explore.  I think what I'm liking best about Charlotte, North Carolina is the beautiful scenery.  It is very green here.  I guess the humidity and regular rain fall does a lot to ensure the success of the beautiful surroundings.  And then there are the amazing people in the south.  It's true about southern hospitality... it is alive and well here in Charlotte.  We are regularly surprised by how friendly and helpful people are here.  What a lovely place to be.  Here are a few pictures from some of our adventures in our new city.

California Beach Day

It's been forever since I've posted on my blog, and for a good reason.... I've moved!  We left California in early July to move to Charlotte, North Carolina.  My life has been a bit upside down for the last few months, with packing and all the work you need to do to get a home ready for a sale.  And in all the busyness, my photography has taken a back seat.  These pictures were of a really fun day about a month ago.  I'm just now finally getting to edit and post them.  They are my good-bye to California pictures.  We had a fabulous day at a beach my family likes, Little Corona Beach.  Great weather and some great fun splashing in the waves.

These next pictures are of my Dad and Mom, Ron and Arlene.  My Mom would hate it that I'm posting a picture of her, but I love including her in the memory of our fun day.  My parents are the type of people that love to climb on the rocks and have fun with their grandkids.  I like it that my Mom will wade through the tide pools to take a look at the crabs and other interesting creatures.
